Reporting Process and Follow Up

In most cases, the Pitt Concern Connection is the best avenue for making a report or asking a question. The University's Office of Compliance, Investigations and Ethics oversees the system and has detailed information about how to make a report, what happens after you make a report, who sees your report and more. As mentioned throughout the website, even speech which we consider to be hate speech is, at times, constitutionally protected. While we look into all reported claims, free speech protections are intentionally broad. An incident must generally rise to the level of discrimination, harassment or a true threat to be actionable. Even if an incident is not something we can take action on, it may still be upsetting, and we encourage you to seek out support from other resources.
